Ah, WSEX. The place where it all began. I had an account here back before the turn of the century, when it was one of the only places on the block. My first visit back here in maybe a dozen years yields a distinctly sentimental vibe. The only thing the home page seems to be lacking is some 70s-era naugahyde and dark-wood paneling. It’s still got a couple of nested frames, though, and that’s retro enough for me.
This old dog is still clearly marketed toward the North American dollar, although the major Euro soccer leagues are also represented. A quick check on the NFL playoff lines reveals a standard dime commission; that rate also goes for the NBA. They claim to offer action on NASCAR and MLB, but since it’s the offseason, I’m unable to find any standard pricing info on those events.
WSEX is offering a lot of props – especially for football bettors. Even fantasy-football props. Brings back memories of the Stardust board in Sin City… They’re also nicely outfitted with a full complement of parlay action (their parlay odds are pedestrian), and their parlay wager limits are fairly comfortable.
This book has also got relatively tall straight-wager limits for American football ($20k/$10k for pro/college sides, respectively) and basketball ($5k/$2.5k or pro/college sides, respectively), but their baseball and hockey side-limits ($2.5k) are a little conservative for me. They do suggest you can call for potentially higher wagering amounts.
Like a lot of other online books, WSEX’s phone support is East Coast-centric, with live support until midnight Eastern-time. Same window applies for their live chat support. The site itself is extremely fast-loading everywhere I go, but the info layout in places can be a bit confusing.
In any case, WSEX looks to be a decent destination for interesting prop action and progressive parlay betting, but nothing special here as far as value for high-end sides action. I rate this warhorse a 4.0 on a scale of 1-5.
